Medical Response Technician (MRT)

The MRT provides immediate lifesaving care for critical patients who become suddenly ill or injured
outside of the hospital. The MRT possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving
care while waiting for an amblulance for transport to an emergency department. The MRT performs basic
interventions with minimal equipment. The MRT is the first responder at the scene and the link to the
transporting service. This program meets the requirements for certification by the Connecticut
Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
|
The EMT provides basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and
emergent patients who become suddenly ill or injured outside of the hospital. The EMT possesses the basic
knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in a patient transport situation. The EMT performs interventions
with basic and limited advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The EMT is the link from the scene
to the emergency department. This program meets the requirements for certification by the Connecticut
Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) and the National Registry of Emergency Medical
Technicians (NREMT).
